If you have no fire in you, it is hard to see yourself as a success.
Think about it. You rarely find anyone who doesn’t wish to see themselves or be seen by others as a winner. So, what drives a person to make their dream a reality? Is it a desire to win? Vince Lombardi said; winning isn’t everything but wanting to win is.
Is your desire rooted in winning or do you take action trying not to lose? What is it that drives you to want to be successful? Do you have the fire inside that burns with the desire to succeed? If so, then “why”? This is something you need to think long and hard about. Your “why” has to be deeper than you. It can’t be money, that will never satisfy you in the long run. It must comes from a place inside that exists beyond simple wants and cravings. Why you must win can only be found when you are able to detect pain points in your life and become determined to solve them.
“The siren call for many entrepreneurs isn’t money, it’s freedom. The freedom to chart your own path, the freedom to build what you want with the people you love.” ~Andrew Wilkinson, Founder of MetaLab and Flow
When you burn with true desire to win, every part of you screams to fulfill that desire as if your life depended on it. Discovering your why begins with you. If freedom is what you truly seek and your desire to win matters enough, it won’t matter “how” you reach it because your “why” will find a way. It will help you stay committed when no one wants to support you. It will motivate you to gain the freedom of not having anyone standing in your way.
- It’s impossible
- No one has done it before
- You don’t know enough to succeed
- You will never be given the chance so why bother
- The gatekeepers will keep you out
- Things will never change
- You are not good enough
- Our people have always been mistreated
- It’s not meant to be
- The devil kept your blessing from you
- You aren’t lucky enough
- I couldn’t do it so what makes you think you can
The truth is… This is when your “why” becomes imperative. Maya Angelou explained it like this; “You can only become truly accomplished at something you love. Don’t make money your goal. Instead pursue the things you love doing, and then do them so well that people can’t take their eyes off of you.”
Be advised, you can’t expect thinking once about your desire to win will cover you till it all comes to fruition. To master this desire you must arrive at the point where something that has to be done engages your every waking moment. Keep it as a song in your heart, fueling the passion to be better, to create more good and be the driving force to see that you succeed. If you aren’t 100 percent committed to making your vision a reality, you won’t be impassioned enough to endure the failures, missteps, and letdowns ahead.
