If you have no fire in you, it is hard to see yourself as a success.

Think about it. You rarely find anyone who doesn’t wish to see themselves or be seen by others as a winner. So, what drives a person to make their dream a reality? Is it a desire to win? Vince Lombardi said; winning isn’t everything but wanting to win is.

Desire To Win – If you have no fire in you, it is hard to see yourself as a success

Is your desire rooted in winning or do you take action trying not to lose? What is it that drives you to want to be successful? Do you have the fire inside that burns with the desire to succeed?  If so, then “why”? This is something you need to think long and hard about. Your “why” has to be deeper than you. It can’t be money, that will never satisfy you in the long run. It must comes from a place inside that exists beyond simple wants and cravings. Why you must win can only be found when you are able to detect pain points in your life and become determined to solve them.

“The siren call for many entrepreneurs isn’t money, it’s freedom. The freedom to chart your own path, the freedom to build what you want with the people you love.” ~Andrew Wilkinson, Founder of MetaLab and Flow

When you burn with true desire to win, every part of you screams to fulfill that desire as if your life depended on it.  Discovering your why begins with you. If freedom is what you truly seek and your desire to win matters enough, it won’t matter “how” you reach it because your “why” will find a way. It will help you stay committed when no one wants to support you. It will motivate you to gain the freedom of not having anyone standing in your way.

Consider this… There will be no one to blame for any failures you experience except you. Can you bear that kind of responsibility? Who as a little kid wanted to grow up to be a loser? Time can cause a person to lose the flame that fueled their desire to win in life. How quickly people abandon their dreams of success when their desires become trying not to lose. They grasp at excuses for why they are losing ground in life when they see you winning. Be mindful of the games they play to convince you to give up your dreams too. We call them haters and the free advice they give is rarely in your best interest. Haters want you to fail so they don’t have to address their own failure to win.
  • It’s impossible
  • No one has done it before
  • You don’t know enough to succeed
  • You will never  be given the chance so why bother
  • The gatekeepers will keep you out
  • Things will never change
  • You are not good enough
  • Our people have always been mistreated
  • It’s not meant to be
  • The devil kept your blessing from you
  • You aren’t lucky enough
  • I couldn’t do it so what makes you think you can

The truth is… This is when your “why” becomes imperative. Maya Angelou explained it like this; “You can only become truly accomplished at something you love. Don’t make money your goal. Instead pursue the things you love doing, and then do them so well that people can’t take their eyes off of you.”

Be advised, you can’t expect thinking once about your desire to win will cover you till it all comes to fruition. To master this desire you must arrive at the point where something that has to be done engages your every waking moment. Keep it as a song in your heart, fueling the passion to be better, to create more good and be the driving force to see that you succeed. If you aren’t 100 percent committed to making your vision a reality, you won’t be impassioned enough to endure the failures, missteps, and letdowns ahead.

Lastly, keep in mind these words from Marie Forleo, host and founder of MarieTV: “Clarity comes from engagement, not thought.” To gain clarity for achieving your desires, begin by replacing poor habits with good habits, reward yourself when you keep a routine of consistency, and hold yourself accountable with discipline. You must set your eyes on that one thing and reduce all distraction until you accomplish it, overcoming your natural urge for procrastination, and then take action.
What is seeing yourself as a winner worth to you? You can’t buy it. You can’t borrow it. You can’t steal it. Winning must be earned by your time, sweat, tears, and sometimes blood.
You won’t see yourself as truly successful in something you’ve decided to pursue until you begin to win consistently at the things required to create your success. Dreaming while taking no action, or lying to yourself is a sure way to extinguish your chances of ever winning. Eventually you see the truth for what it is whether you accept it or not. Instead, know your “why” so that it will provide the energy, discipline, and burning desire you need to fuel your success. Then, take time to build success generating activities into your daily life to help you  acquire small wins. Build confidence through those daily small wins to eventually go after and achieve the big wins.
